A healthy, vibrant, refreshing smoothie bowl using all your favorite summer fruits.
During the spring and summer months, smoothies bowls become a staple in my diet.
They are super easy to make, cold and refreshing during the warmer months, packed with healthy fruits, look so darn pretty, and taste amazing!
I literally will eat these for breakfast, lunch, a snack, or even for dinner after a hot and sweaty workout.
There’s also something so satisfying about a meal in a bowl. I don’t know what it is?!? Maybe it’s because there is so much deliciousness combined all together into a beautiful work of art. Maybe its because bowl meals are super trendy and I like to think I’m hip. Whatever the reason, bowl meals are my jam at the moment!
I love to come up with new, unique smoothie bowl ideas to keep things interesting. My latest creation was inspired by all the delicious, ripe, and fresh summer fruit that is plentiful this time of year.
I’m talking peaches, watermelon, and berries. Literally all of my favorite fruits in one delicious, easy to prepare bowl.
Let’s get to making this bowl!
This easy to prepare meal comes together in the blender. So that means easy clean up at the end (Yaas!). Another reason I’m totally obsessed with smoothie bowls.
There is a little bit of skill that goes into making a smoothie bowl. The key to making it possible to eat the smoothie in bowl form is to make sure the smoothie is a thick consistency. If it gets to runny, then really it’s just smoothie and you will have to drink it from a glass and straw (not the worst thing in the world, but not quite as magical as a smoothie bowl!)
What you do is add all the ingredients except the milk into the blender and blend until the fruit is broken down and resembles little pebbles. Then slowly add the milk, about a 1/4 cup at a time, and blend. Make sure to scrap down the sides as you blend to help process the fruit without the need for more milk. Keep repeating this process until you have a well blended but still thick smoothie. I used about 1/2 cup of milk.
Finally, top with your favorite toppings. I always add extra fruit, granola, and coconut flakes. You can add anything you like and have on hand, like chia seeds, nuts, dried fruit, yogurt, peanut butter, etc. Let your imagination run wild!
Voila! Your smoothie bowl is complete.
It’s such a wonderful blend of flavors. All the summer fruits provide a light, sweet taste to the smoothie. The raspberries add a bit of tartness to balance out the flavors. The honey and vanilla add a touch of extra sweetness. The orange juice adds a little burst of acidity and helps bring out the flavors in the peaches and watermelon. Plus, the ginger adds a little zing.
Yuuummmmyyyy!
I hope this becomes a staple in your summer meal rotation as well!
