A delicious blend of tart and sweet dark cherries, ripe bananas, automatic and flavorful chai spices, and nutty almond butter. It’s the perfect, flavorful, protein-packed drink to start your day!

Man do I love a good, healthy smoothie to start my day!
I’m kind of obsessed with smoothies. First, they are super easy to make. Add all of the ingredients to a blender, and boom, you have a delicious breakfast in seconds.

I also love that they are portable. I travel pretty often for work and I like to have a breakfast I can take in the car with me and sip on during my drive. They are also great if you need a quick breakfast on the go or like to bring your breakfast with you and enjoy it at work.

Finally, I love that there are so many different flavor combinations for smoothies. Some of my favorites are my coffee and almond butter smoothie or my tropical sunshine smoothie. I’ve had these two flavor quite often and it finally seemed time to come up with something new.

Introducing my chai cherry smoothies. They were actually inspired by my friend Alyssa who made this for me one morning before we went on a shopping date (which was probably almost 2 years ago now). It was a delicious, unexpected combination of flavors and I loved it. I can’t believe it took me this long to create my own version and share it with all of you!
But better late than never. Right?!

Let’s get to blending.
One of the beauties of smoothies is that they are so darn easy to make.
Alls you need to do it add all of the ingredients to a blender – cherries, banana, almond butter, chai spices, honey, and oat milk – and blend until smoothie.
I prefer my smoothies on the thick side, so I added just over a cup of milk. If you prefer a thinner smoothie, just add more milk until you reached your desired thickness.

I really love how all the flavors work so well together in this smoothie. The cherries add a tart sweetness, the almond butter adds nutty richness, the honey adds a pop of robust sweetness that rounds out the tartness from the cherries, and the chai spices add a beautiful pop of spice and helps tame the sweetness of the cherries.
It’s a balanced, flavorful, addictive smoothie!

Chai Cherry Smoothie
Ingredients
- 2 frozen bananas
- 1 cup frozen dark cherries
- 2 tablespoons almond butter
- 1 1/4 cup oat milk or milk or choice more depending on desired thickness
- 1 teaspoon chai spice see notes
- 1 teaspoon honey
- Cherries star anise pod, and oats for topping
Instructions
-
Add all of the ingredients to a high powered blender and blend until smooth. If smoothie seems too thick add more milk, a little at a time, until you reach your desired thickness (I prefer thicker smoothies).
-
Pour into a glass and top with cherries, oats, and star anise pod (for a pretty affect).
-
Sip and enjoy!
Recipe Notes
For the chai spices, you can by a chai spice blend or create your own. To create your own, simply combine 1 tablespoon cinnamon, 2 teaspoons ginger, 1 teaspoon cardamom, 1/2 teaspoon allspice, 1/2 teaspoon cloves, and 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg.
