Tips for crispy baked sweet potato fries
- High Temp. You want to bake these at 425 degrees so the sweet potato fries get a nice golden brown exterior and a creamy soft interior.
- Patience. Bake them for 15 minutes and then flip and bake for another 15 minutes. This allows them to crisp up and achieve a golden brown crust. Don’t keep flipping the sweet potatoes while they bake. Let them do their thang!
- Cornstarch. The cornstarch helps dry out the sweet potatoes and allows them to get super crispy.
- Don’t Overcrowd the Pan. Separate each sweet potato fry and make sure they aren’t touching (you may need two pans).
- Season and Shake. I like to put the sweet potatoes in a zip lock bag and add the oil and seasonings and then shake to ensure even coating on all the fries.
- No Excess Oil. If you use too much oil, the fries will become soggy and will not crisp up.
- Wait to Salt. Salt will draw out the moisture from the sweet potatoes and make them soggy. Wait to salt the fries when they are done baking.
How to make Greek yogurt ranch.
In a small bowl, add the Greek yogurt, mayo, lemon juice, apple cider vinegar, Worcestershire, salt, pepper, garlic and onion powder, and herbs and stir until well-combined. Add the water, one table spoon at a time until reach desired consistency.
You can also add all of the ingredients to a food processor and blend until well-mixed. Just note this method will cause it to turn a little green from the food processor.
This homemade ranch is super bright and delicious. The base of it is greek yogurt, which gives it a nice tang. The tiny bit of mayo and Worcestershire helps balance out the tang from the greek yogurt and add a little sweetness and umami. The lemon and herbs helps make it bright and flavorful. It’s the perfect accompaniment to the salty and a little spicy sweet potato fries.
Enjoy!
