- ground cinnamon
- ground ginger
- ground cardamom
- ground allspice
- ground cloves

how to make this chai spice blend
I highly recommend making your own spice blends at home. It’s incredibly easy, more cost effective, and allows you to control the flavor to your liking.
I bought all pre-ground spices and simply added them together based on ratios I thought provided the best, most robust flavor (but you can play around with the ratios based in what spices you like best!). Cinnamon is the star ingredient with it’s warm, slightly nutty flavor. The two next big flavors are ginger and cardamom which add a nice sweet spicy bite and lemony flavor. The back-up but still important flavors are allspice, cloves, and nutmeg, which all add subtle warm, toasty notes. Finally, a touch of black pepper adds a small hint of savory heat without being overpowering. Together, it creates a symphony of flavor that brings life to any dish!
Of course, you could buy whole spices and grind them yourself for a super fresh blend! But pre-ground works beautifully too!
