The star ingredient, Empress 1908 Gin, provides the beautiful color and earthy, floral flavor, which is perfectly accented by the sweet floral notes in the elderflower liquor and balanced by the tangy grapefruit juice and dry, crisp sparkling rose.
This cocktail just screams spring, from its pretty pastel colors to its bright, floral flavors. It’s perfect for any party or get together as it’s simple to make but looks so impressive. Or just to be enjoyed at home to help put you in a happy, springtime mood! Either way, this will be your new favorite drink!

More about Empress 1908 Gin
Empress 1908 Gin is a hand-crafted spirit from Victoria Distillers in British Columbia, Canada. It was inspired by the renowned tea and cocktail programs of the iconic Fairmont Empress Hotel in Victoria.
More, on it’s flavor and noticeable hue. Empress 1908 Gin is micro-distilled in small batch copper-pot stills using eight botanicals: juniper, rose, coriander seed, grapefruit peel, ginger root, cinnamon bark, butterfly pea blossoms and the Fairmont Empress Blend Tea. The result is a delicious, floral gin that pairs perfectly with flavors like grapefruit and elderflower. It’s also all-natural and gluten-free!
The butterfly pea blossom imparts subtle earthy notes and an all-natural indigo hue with a stunning secret to reveal: with the addition of citrus or tonic, Empress 1908 transforms from vivid indigo blue to a delicate soft pink. Together with the grapefruit juice, it creates this stunning pink and lavender ombre effect, which makes this cocktail look pretty and impressive.

How to make a Grapefruit Rose Gin Fizz
This cocktail is simple to make. First, add a 1/2 cup grapefruit juice, 1 ounce elderflower liquor, and 1/2 teaspoon honey (agave or cane sugar work well too) to a shaker filled with ice. Shake vigorously so all the ingredients are well-combined. Strain into a coupe glass, martini glass, or wine glass.
Next, very slowly add the 2 ounces of gin on top of the grapefruit mixture. A trick to help create the layers is to use the back of a spoon to pour the gin onto first, which allows it to slowly cascade into the glass on top of the grapefruit mixture. If you pour the gin in too quickly, it will mix with the grapefruit mixture and will not form a top layer.

The reason the layers form is because of the density of the liquids. The grapefruit mixture contains more sugar so is heavier and stays at the bottom. The gin layer has a higher alcohol content, so is lighter, and stays at the top. A little fun fact (and science magic) for you!
Finally, slowly top with the sparkling rose.
Add a small piece of basil and grapefruit slice and your masterpiece is complete.
The ombre effect creates a pretty and impressive cocktail! When ready to drink, just gently stir it with a spoon or straw so all the flavors can meld together. Sip and enjoy!

enjoy!
This grapefruit rose gin fizz is light, refreshing, pretty, and delicious and will be your new go-to this Spring!
