This fig and bacon flatbread is the perfect way to celebrate fig season while it lasts. It features whole wheat naan topped with beautiful, earthy, ripe figs, creamy, tangy goat cheese, crispy bacon, and fresh basil then topped with a sweet and spicy hot honey. It’s great as an appetizer or meal!

Fig and Bacon Flatbread
This flatbread is not only incredibly easy to make, it’s crazy delicious!
It features fresh figs. I absolutely adore figs. They are sort of like a unicorn – pretty and rare. Fig season is short (August through October). Plus, even during the season, not all grocery stores carry this gorgeous fruit (*sigh*). So when I spot them, I buy them in bulk before they disappear again. But trust me, figs are worth the search. Figs are a beautiful, juicy, sort of earthy, and perfectly sweet fruit. I love them!
Plus, figs pair great with goat cheese and bacon, the other ingredients in this flatbread. The goat cheese adds a creamy tang and bacon adds a salty savory bite that works perfectly with the sweet and earthy figs! This combination of flavors makes this flatbread irresistible.

Ingredients to make this flatbread
This flatbread calls for just a few, simple ingredients:
- 2 whole wheat naan breads
- 2-3 medium sized figs, if you cannot find fresh figs, dried figs work great too!
- 3-4 slices cooked and chopped bacon
- crumbled goat cheese, I used a fig flavored kind but honey, plain, or herb would also work great
- shredded mozrella
- fresh basil
- honey + hot sauce

How to make this Fig and Bacon Flatbread
Preheat the oven to 400 degrees.
First, drizzle the naan with a good quality olive oil and garlic salt. Seasoning the naan is key to creating an irresistible flatbread. It adds an extra layer of flavor and helps brighten the naan.
I also used whole wheat naan. It’s a simple swap to add fiber and whole grains to the dish (making it more wholesome).
Next, top the naan with the cheeses, slices of fig, and chopped bacon. Bake it for 10-12 minutes, or until the cheese is fully melted and starting to brown. Remove from the oven and allow to cool slightly.
For the hot honey, combine the honey with 2-3 teaspoons of hot sauce. This creates a delicious sweet and spicy sauce to drizzle over the flatbread. The sweet and spicy combo goes perfectly with the sweet and salty flatbread.

How to enjoy this flatbread
This flatbread works great as a crowd pleasing appetizer. I also love to enjoy it for lunch or dinner along side a salad.
