A refreshing, light Whole30 mocktail that will bring you right back to summertime. It totally works as a cocktail too – just add an ounce of gin or vodka. Either way, you need to try this drink!
Since drinking is off limits during Whole30, I created a delicious mocktail to sip on during the weekends. Mocktails are a lifesaver on the weekends. Sometimes water just isn’t enough when you are hanging out with friends or your significant other and everyone elsie is enjoying an alcoholic beverage. It’s much more fun if you have a fancy drink in your hand too.
Enter this beautiful, vibrant blackberry cucumber spritzer. It is made with LaCroix blackberry cucumber sparkling water, fresh blackberries, cucumber and mint, which makes this drink both delicious and healthy.
Let’s get to mixing.
This mocktail comes together in under five minutes. In a small glass, muddle lime juice, 2 blackberries, a couple sprigs of mint, and 2 cucumber slices. Muddling is the process of mashing the cocktail ingredients to help bring out their flavors. You want to squish the berries so they release their natural juices (which will give your drink a pretty red/pink hue) but be careful not to over smash the mint or it will turn brown and break into pieces. Once all of the ingredients are muddled, fill the rest of the glass with the LaCroix. Give it a good stir so all the ingredients marry together. Now sip and enjoy!
The addition of fresh blackberries and cucumbers accentuates those flavors already present in the LaCroix. The lime adds a nice burst of citrus flavor to waken up the drink. Finally, the mint adds a delicious, fresh herbal kick, which is why this drink reminds me so much of summertime.
Not doing Whole30 or a dry January ? This drink totally works as a cocktail too. I recommend adding an ounce of gin or vodka to give the drink a kick. The floral notes in the gin pair perfectly with the grassy cucumber and slightly sweet blackberries, so it is my liquor of choice for this cocktail. That is how I am going to enjoy this drink come February 1. Burt for now, the virgin option still keeps me totally satisfied.
With all the fresh, light flavors, this drink brings me right back to summertime. Who doesn’t want to go back to the days of sunshine, pool days, tan lines, and patio time?Especially, when it’s currently 25 degrees outside (which sadly is warm for Chicago January weather). Sip on this mocktail (cocktail) and closes your eyes and you will be transported to sunnier days too!
