Apple Cider Syrup

  • 4 cups apple cider
  • One cinnamon stick

Apple Cider Old Fashioned

  • 1 ounce apple cider syrup
  • 1/2 ounce fresh orange juice
  • 2-4 ounces bourbon depending on preferred booziness level
  • 2-3 dashes clove bitters regular works too
  • Cinnamon stick, apple slice, and star anise for topping optional

  1. In a heavy bottom sauce pan, add the apple cider and cinnamon stick and bring to a boil over medium-high heat. Bring back down to a simmer over medium-low heat. Allow the cider to simmer for about an hour, or until it reduces to about 3/4 cup. Take off heat and allow to cool.

  2. To make the old fashioned, add the apple cider syrup, fresh orange juice, desired amount of bourbon, and bitters to an old fashioned pitcher with ice. Stir until all the ingredients are well-combined and cold. Strain into a whiskey glass. Add one large ice cube (or multiple regular cubes).

  3. Garnish with cinnamon stick, apple slices, and star anise.
  4. Serve, sip, and enjoy!

Recipe Notes

You can make a large batch of these by multiplying the ingredients with as many OFs you want to serve and storing in fridge in large pitcher until ready to serve. Just make sure to add the sparkling water at the end when serving.
